Wanderlust

I had known all along that I would be blogging during all of my upcoming travels (about 1 month away now!), but today I actually sat down and got to work on creating this blog that I hope you all will enjoy reading while I am away!

As most of you probably know, I'm extremely particular; so the one thing that I really wanted to be just right, was the title. I did kind of toy around with the idea of some generic "Halie's Summer 2012 Trip to Czech Republic and South Africa", but honestly, not only is that so boring, but it also restricts me to just using this for summer 2012. I have done a fair amount of traveling in my twenty years of existence and don't intend for this to be my last long distance trip!

After a lot of brainstorming, I actually found my insperation on Pinterest. For those of you not on Pinterest, it's a really cool site where users share photos that are representative of ideas, recipes, crafts, whatever! Some of the photos are there purely for the enjoyment of looking at, but a lot of them link back to websites that feature whatever the picture was of. Anyway though, a user that I follow had posted a picture about wanderlust, which is defined as the strong desire to travel the world. Sometimes the definition also has something about discovering yourself through the experience of wandering all over the world and discovering new things.

I had heard of wanderlust before, but somehow had completely forgot about it in all of my brainstorming for titles! For any of you who really know me at all, you know that I without a doubt have wanderlust. I took my first trip across the world at 13, to China, and have since had the goal of traveling to all seven continents. My close fiends and family could attest to all of the crazy ideas I come up with in order to meet my goal-- some of them, I do realize after digesting the ideas a bit, are definitely crazy! But little by little those crazy thoughts get turned into reality. And so, when I saw that post on Pinterest about wanderlust, I knew instantly that there wouldn't be anything else out there to better describe me and my travels abroad.

So, it is now through my blog, Wanderlust, that you will be able to follow what I am up to while abroad! This summer, I will be traveling to Prague, Czech Republic and Cape Town, South Africa! I am very excited and grateful for the opportunity that presented itself to me-- to travel to not one but two major places in one summer is insane! Even with all of the crazy stuff I dream up to do, I would have never thought that something like this would actually happen!

Currently, I'm at UNH, absolutely buried in work! While I am so unbelievably excited for this trip, I will probably not have much time to dedicate to preparing for it or posting here until I am home, about a week before departure!
